What We Do

Contrast Magazine is Vassar College’s 100% student-run style & culture magazine. We provide an outlet for creative expression for the greater Vassar community in various forms of art, including fashion, makeup, photography, film, writing and digital design.

Contrast recognizes that the fashion industry has been historically discriminatory, and is committed to the radical inclusion of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences in our programming and publication.

Editorial

Editorial board members are responsible for creating the written content for Contrast'‘s print magazine. These articles loosely relate to the issue’s chosen theme, and the magazine will be released semesterly.

Media

Media board members create and manage content that will be posted to any of Contrast'‘s social media platforms. Media members also run our website and promote events.

Layout

Layout board members use Adobe applications like Photoshop and Indesign to design Contrast’s print magazine towards the end of the semester. Layout members also design posters, merch, and social media posts for Contrast.

Style

Style board members curate and style models for Contrast’s photoshoots and fashion shows. Clothes used by style is typically sourced from board members.

Beauty

Beauty board members work alongside our Style team during Contrast’s photoshoots and fashion shows. They are responsible for doing the models’ makeup looks.

Photo

Photo board members work under the guidance of our head of photo during Contrast’s photoshoots. Photo members will help take pictures of models to be featured on our website and in our print magazine.

Film

Film board members will have the freedom to work on a range of special projects throughout the semester, from filming behind the scenes to any of our IGTV series.
